Equilateral Triangle Family Tree Print

Something beautiful emerges when you add layer upon layer of the most beautiful triangle, the equilateral triangle, and double the number of triangles with each layer. Do you see a blossom? A gem? A bird? Everyone will see something different. I don't want to give away what I saw the first time I made this design, but If we meet one day, ask me and I'll tell you.

My Equilateral Triangle design is inspired by the work of artist Valerie Atkisson and her series of Hanging Family History pieces. I came across one of her pieces when I was a freshman in college. I remember standing in awe at this beautiful, 3-dimensional representation of someone's family tree. I had no idea that some people could trace their family trees back so many generations. I also learned that your family tree could be art, an idea that stuck with me for years because of what I felt looking at Valerie Atkisson's Hanging Family History.

Each triangle in this design represents a couple. Two sides bear the names and lifespan of the two individuals, and the third side has their wedding date. Two of the vertices then touch two more triangles representing the parents of each side. This continues on for 4, 5, or 6 generations. Each triangle is approximately 3"x2.5". There's plenty of space in each design to add other text, such as descendants, a family story, family recipe, etc. We'll customize it the way you want it.

Choose the Digital format if you want to receive a high-resolution PDF to print your tree yourself or send to a local printer. Digital prints do not include the option to receive a second, updated tree in the future.

Choose the Paper format to receive a paper print directly from us. Your print will come on thick 43-lb, acid-free paper. When you choose a paper print, you also have the option of receiving a second, updated print anytime in the future, at no additional cost. We realize your family tree may change because of a death in the family or new research may uncover a new branch. You can feel confident in buying a print now, knowing that you can get a free, updated second print anytime later.

The print sizes offered correspond to common poster frame sizes in the US that you can buy at major retailers such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart or Amazon.

If you do not want to frame your print, we offer an optional 5 mil, 2-sided lamination that will offer long-lasting protection. This is a separate product you must add to your cart.
